Personalised pieces are at the heart of Love Etchally. Whether you're adding a name, meaningful date, handwritten message, photograph or fingerprint, we want your finished piece to be something you'll treasure.

This guide will help you provide the best possible information and images for your engraving.

Text Engraving

When entering names, dates or messages, please check your personalisation carefully before placing your order.

Your wording will be engraved as entered, including spelling, numbers and capitalisation.

Where a choice of fonts is available, simply select your preferred font on the product page.

The amount of text that can be engraved varies depending on the size and shape of the item. Character limits are shown on individual product pages where applicable.

Handwriting Engraving

We can turn meaningful handwriting into a permanent keepsake — whether it's a signature, a few handwritten words or a message from someone special.

For the best result:

• Photograph or scan the handwriting on plain, light-coloured paper.
• Make sure the writing is clear and in focus.
• Use good, even lighting and avoid shadows.
• Try to photograph the paper directly from above.
• Original handwriting is best — there's no need to edit the image yourself.

We will prepare the handwriting for engraving while preserving its original character wherever possible.

Photo Engraving

A good photograph makes a big difference to the finished engraving.

For the best results, choose a photograph that is:

• Clear and in focus.
• Well lit, without very dark shadows.
• High quality rather than a screenshot where possible.
• Large enough for the subject to be clearly visible.
• Not heavily filtered or edited.

For photographs of people or pets, images where the face and important features are clearly visible usually produce the best results.

We may crop, adjust or prepare your photograph specifically for laser engraving.

Fingerprint Engraving

For products offering fingerprint engraving, please upload the clearest fingerprint image you have available.

This could be a photograph or scan of an existing fingerprint impression.

Don't worry if the image isn't perfect. We will prepare suitable images for engraving while retaining the individual characteristics of the fingerprint wherever possible.

Drawings & Children's Artwork

Selected products can also be engraved with simple drawings or children's artwork.

For the best result, photograph or scan the drawing on plain white or light-coloured paper with good lighting.

Bold, clearly defined lines generally engrave better than very faint pencil marks or highly detailed shaded drawings.

Uploading Your Image

Where image personalisation is available, you'll see an upload option on the product page.

Please upload the best-quality original image available. You don't need to remove the background or convert the image into an engraving file — we'll take care of the preparation.

Engraving Size & Placement

Every piece is different, so the size and position of your engraving will be adjusted to suit the available engraving area.

Longer names or messages may need to be made smaller to fit.

We aim to create the best possible layout while keeping your personalisation clear and balanced.

Please Check Before Ordering

Before completing your order, please check:

• Names are spelt correctly.
• Dates and numbers are correct.
• Your chosen font is correct, where applicable.
• You've uploaded the correct photograph, handwriting or fingerprint.
• Any special instructions have been included.

If you notice a mistake after ordering, please contact us as soon as possible. If engraving has not yet begun, we will do our best to make the change.
